Personal Timeline
| Biography | The son of two East German refugees, Ulrich had a relatively normal upbringing. He learned German and an intense dislike of Communism from his parents. In High School he was a standout linebacker, his size and ferocity making him an all american and in the end recruited by UW Madison to play for the Badgers. After a 4 year career where he started for all 4 years and nearly set school records on sacks and interceptions. He also graduated with a BA in a mix of political science and history focusing on the classics. He was drafted in the 1992 NFL draft as a midround linebacker for the Green Bay Packers. He made an impact as a good player, never starting but getting significant playing time as a pass rusher. In 1996 he was part of the Superbowl Championship team, only to have his career end on an injury to his knee. After that he went to law school while working for the Milwaukee County Republican party part time then after graduation he went full time earning a reputation as a hard worker. In that time he married and began his family while working first for the state party then national, eventually moving to DC. In DC he worked hard at new media and eventually attracted the attention of the incoming administration where his leadership and skills in networking would prove to be an asset. |
